The article considers the theoretical and methodological basis in the field of proprietary studies and classification of microtoponymy, taking into account its lexical-semantic and structural-word-forming specifics in the works of Ukrainian and foreign linguists.
For multidisciplinary analysis of onomasticon, namely microtoponicon, modern linguists use almost all relevant methods and additional techniques. As you know, there is no clear differentiation between method and method, method and direction, etc., because any scientific, technical or scientific method can be gradually separated into a method. We agree with the Ukrainian scientist Yu. Karpenko that methodology, method and technique are interconnected, because the method consists of techniques, and the methodology - of methods.
Relevant methods and techniques that are especially effective for proprietary research are singled out, in particular: language attribution and inventory of recorded onym units; textual analysis; genetic and differential analyzes; etymological analysis; reconstruction of the onyx and its variants; structural-word-forming analysis; formant analysis, etc.
It is established that in Ukrainian and foreign onomastic explorations it is accepted to analyze microtoponymicons within two traditional categories with their further gradation and taking into account certain extra- and intralingual factors. In addition, the peculiarities of the theoretical and methodological foundations of onomastic research in Ukraine, Belarus, Bulgaria, Poland, England, Germany, etc. are highlighted.
In general, the certified names for local objects contain significant information about the geographical location of the surveyed region, the ethnic consciousness of its inhabitants and contribute to the further comprehensive study of the proprietary system.
