The article characterizes the problematic aspects regarding the definition of status in modern Ukrainian linguistics, the semantic properties of invariable morphological units, correlative with qualitatively descriptive adverbs and motivated by qualitative adjectives, as well as those that are frozen nominative word forms that, under certain contextual conditions, are used to reproduce emotionally -willful or physical state of a person, the state of the environment, and in a one-syllable sentence perform a predicative function. Emphasis is placed on the large number of terminological definitions of this group of lexemes and the main criteria on which they are based, which causes difficulties in the linguistic and linguistic didactic fields.
It is outlined that qualitatively descriptive and predicative adverbs are in homonymous relations with each other, since in different syntactic functions they implement the sentence and semantics characteristic of these members. The defining features of predicative adverbs in the modern Ukrainian literary language are formulated and their functional semantic properties.
