Abstract

The article deals with a comparative analysis of lexemes in English and Ukrainian paremiology. Comparison of realities of fauna and flora, that used in Ukrainian and English paremiology, allowed to select such groups: 1. Lexemes, peculiar Ukrainian and English paremiology. 2. Lexemes, inherent only Ukrainian paremiology. 3. Lexemes, peculiar only English paremiology.

It should be noted that in the same ethnoculture, as well as in terms of comparing various ethnocultures, the attitude towards certain paremiological concepts (such as "cat", "dog", "horse", "donkey", "bird", "pig", etc.) is far from unambiguous. There is always a so-called, evaluation component, that is, an approvable or disapproving assessment laid down in the meaning of phraseology or parity. An example can be ethnic differences in the characteristic of "Dogs": a) Ukrainians: to love a good attitude towards yourself; match gratitude to goodness; to peep in a foreign country and to break into their homeland; run in a cart; in a hungry state to carry out bad deeds; inappropriate to behave in the kitchen; not to love radish; b) In the British: to harm, an integral attribute - fleas.

The summary sample of associations of Ukrainians and the British in relation to the realities of fauna and flora reveals some systemic features, namely: isofunctionality, peculiar synonymy of concepts (when one concept in content is another), as well as conceptual contrast, analogement of antonyms.

Consequently, with a comparative analysis of the lexemes, denoting the realities of fauna and flora in English and Ukrainian paremiology, several groups were allocated: lexemes, inherent Ukrainian, and English paremiology; lexemes, inherent in Ukrainian paremiology; lexemes, characteristic of only English paremiology. It is important to keep in mind ambiguous attitude in English and Ukrainian languages to similar paremiological concepts.
