The article aims to study the evolution of lexical terms for war in the contemporary media discourse of Ukrainian and English. The study is based on the methods of lexical and semantic analysis, discourse analysis, and cognitive linguistics. The article analyzes the dynamics of changes in the semantics, stylistic connotations and functional use of military vocabulary in the context of news reports. The influence of socio-political and cultural factors on the formation of new lexical units and their adaptation to the media sphere is considered. Particular attention is paid to a comparative analysis of the terminology used to describe military confli cts in the two languages. General trends such as the growth of metaphorization, the emergence of neologisms, and the transformation of meanings under the influence of information technology and globalization are highlighted. The article characterizes the differences in the use of military vocabulary due to linguistic traditions, cultural context and peculiarities of media coverage. The study's results contribute to the understanding of contemporary linguistic processes in media discourse and expand knowledge about the role of language in shaping public perception of military conflicts. The article will be useful for linguists, journalists, translators, and specialists in intercultural communication.
