The study of the Common Slavic language context allows to determine the place of a certain language in the Slavic language world. Slavic linguistics, in particular Polish, began to develop during the Middle Ages, when the foundations of the Polish literary language were laid. Each new period in the development of Polish linguistics was marked by a number of works that still play an important role in the history of Polish linguistics, which is a component of European science.
The purpose of the article is to characterize dictionaries written in the period of New Poland (from the second half of the 18th century to the present day), and to acquaint with brief bibliographic information about their authors. The main sources are the electronic site «Słowniki dawne i współczesne» and the works of Z. Klemensiewicz. Since there is no Ukrainian-language generalizing work on the history of Polish linguistics in domestic linguistics, there is a need to analyze Polish sources.
The article characterizes the main lexicographical works of the New Polish period, including dictionaries of the Polish language S. B. Linde, T. Lehr-Spławiṅski, Wilno and Warsaw dictionaries, etymological dictionary of A. Brűckner, illustrated dictionary of M. Arct, other dialectological and phraseological dictionaries that testify to the development of Polish literary language and the efforts of scholars to standardize and codify it in the 19th- first half of the 20th century.
During the period of New Poland, the struggle of the intellectual elite against Latinization, Germanization, and Russification are continued, and the place of the Polish language in science and didactics is determined. Polish literary language is developing on a folk national basis, which necessitated its normalization and codification, which can be respond to by diversified dictionaries.
We see the prospect of research in a systematic description of grammatical works created in the days of New Poland.
