LINGUAL REPRESENTATION OF THE CONCEPT UKRAINEIN THE POETRY BY YU. M. MUSHKETYC

Abstract

Undoubtedly, the spiritual values of any person include the native country, the native land – the place where he or she was born, took the first steps, where his or her parents lived. The article is devoted to the study of the linguistic expression of the concept of UKRAINE in the poetry “The Black Horse rider” by the outstanding Ukrainian writer of the second half of the XX century Yu. M. Mushketyk. The aim of the study is to determine the main artistic and semantic content of the concept of UKRAINE, as well as to establish the linguistic means used by the master of the word in modeling each of the artistic and semantic content. In order to achieve this goal, both general scientific and linguistic methods were used, including the method of semantic and stylistic analysis, the method of component analysis, the method of contextual analysis, the descriptive method, the method of analysis and synthesis etc.

The paper determines that the concept of UKRAINE belongs to the basic concepts of the collection “The Black Horse rider”. In the article we consider the concept as a lingual and mental formation, which has a spherical structure and consists of a nucleus, which includes usual meanings; nuclear zone, which contains cultural meanings; as well as the periphery – author’s individual markers of the semantic component of the concept. The writer uses ornithonyms, phytonyms not only to show the beautiful nature of the Ukrainian landscapes but the purpose of such sketches is to awaken national identity.

It was found that this concept consists of the meanings Ukraine – native country, Ukraine – mother, Ukraine – national identity, Ukraine – historical past. In this case, each of this artistic and semantic content has a number of specific means of artistic expression, among which the dominant are epithets, metaphors, allusions. These means help the author to express his feelings to the motherland.
