Abstract

In the article the author focuses on the coverage of the life-activity of the Ukrainian diaspora writer Olha Mak in the perspective of the scientific interpretation of national identity, present in her artistic practice. National identity prompted the writer to a high patriotic rank. National identity gave birth to a heightened sense of consolidation of the nation, and therefore the spiritual and value vector of the Ukrainian national identity was constantly highlighted in the writer's artistic practice. It is proved that the writer formed her self-identity in Ukraine. The self-concept of personality absorbs an alloy of goals, motives, continuity of life-activity and life-purpose attitudes. It was found that Olha Mak was aware of herself as a subject of activity, because she belonged to the progressive creators of culture, art of the writing, and identified herself with cultural identity.

As a student at Nizhyn Pedagogical Institute, the future writer formed the national identity to the highest level, in other words, it was strengthened and consolidated. As a result of these processes, there was an increase in the cognitive complexity and differentiation of the self-image of a woman writer as a representative of the national community, increasing the weight of its subjective significance. It was revealed that further changes in national identity as a component of the self-image took place in the emigration environment, when the author of stories and novels reached adulthood, brought up children, instilled in them a love for the Ukrainian language in the foreign land. Here we are no longer talking about the formation, but about the transformation of national identity, which depends on the economic, socio-political conditions of life-activity of Ukrainian emigrants in a foreign language space.
