ELEMENTS OF EXPRESSIVE SYNTAXAS MARKERS OF THE UNIQUE ORATORICAL STYLE OF IRYNA FARION

Abstract

The article deals with the peculiar structure of syntactical constructions in Iryna Farion’s public speeches, which represent the orator’s feelings and emotions, the expressiveness level of the utterance, the declaration of will and attitude towards the meaning of what has been stated. Activating the syntactical figures (e.g. different types of repetition, rhetorical salutation, expressive unities and so on) in the rhetor’s speech is justified as the “live” interactions are taken into consideration, namely 100 public speeches digitalized from the YouTube channel “Iryna Farion” by the authors of the article. It is found out that the anaphoras are the main markers of Iryna Farion’s emotional and expressive speech, as well as manifest the Ukrainian-centred philosophical and aesthetic concept of the author mentioned. The majority of anaphoras are the repetitions of a complete grammatical centre or one of its components. For intensifying repetition, it is typical to use the doubling of one of the components of the grammatical centre and an extender. Anadiplosis is present in a change of syntactic function “extender → one of the components of the grammatical centre”. Lexical and syntactic repetitions display one-, two-, three-, four- or five-component structures with different parts of speech, among which pronouns, nouns and verbs are the most common to function in different combinations. Emotion and expressive, structural and organisational, image-creating, actualisational, emphasizing and rhyme-creating functions constitute the wide range of repetitions functions that when synthesized achieve the powerful pragmatic and stylistic effect of Iryna Farion’s speeches. Moreover, the analysis revealed that the oratorical mastery of the rhetor is marked by the complex of rhetorical questions, salutations and exclamatory sentences that emphasize the especially significant intentions of the orator. Another feature of linguistic creativity of Iryna Farion is expressive unities that represent the combination of phonetical, lexical, phraseological and syntactical expressemes within a single text piece depending on a text situation, the artistic and aesthetic guidelines of the rhetor, expressive and pragmatic, as well as linguistic objectives.
