Abstract

American and British English have many features in common due to their general origin from Old English. American English, by its very nature, has retained the Old English language at its core, while British English has developed more dynamically, which is due to a different historical past and the neighborhood of other countries. At the same time, there were not only different political conditions in the USA, but also social, economic, industrial, climatic conditions and natural resources, which caused a completely different vector of the development of American English in the USA. At the same time, England is characterized by an aristocratic way of life, which presupposed the presence of a king and/or queen and royal positions, land holdings, which were inherited through male lines to the eldest son. In aristocratic Britain, a person's life and fortune depended on which family he was born into. The USA was considered a young promising country, where your origin, wealth had no role, and the main driving force was the desire to earn more. American English has loanwords from Latin, German, Italian, French, Spanish, and Native American. The main prerequisites for the formation of American English were: colonization of North America by the British and Spanish, slavery, gold rush, civil war, the First World War, migration waves are an important factor in the formation of American English. The main stages of the formation of American English are the appearance of British English on the American continent, the birth of American English, the unification of American English, the development of American English, the adaptation of American English to the features of scientific and technological progress, and also the transformation of American English in the context of globalization.
